Elizabeth Dole -- All Talk, No Action

HAGAN CAMPAIGN TO ELIZABETH DOLE:
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

GREENSBORO, NC- In honor of National Police Week, Senator Elizabeth Dole spoke on the U.S. Senate floor remembering the efforts of police officers across the country, and particularly those in North Carolina, who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

In honor of Elizabeth Dole saying one thing and doing another, Hagan campaign Communications Director Colleen Flanagan issued the following statement:

“While we agree that the uniformed men and women who protect our communities and put their lives on the line are deserving of tremendous thanks and praise, we strongly disagree with Elizabeth Dole in terms of her support, or lack thereof, of policemen and women in the past. Elizabeth Dole has voted at least three times against the COPS (Community Oriented Policing Services) program, which brought more than $181 million in funding to North Carolina to help pay for additional police officers and sheriffs’ deputies, as well as 146 school resource officers. In addition, she’s voted against $3.3 billion in funding for state and local first responders.

“Our policemen and women put their lives on the line to make sure our communities, our schools, and our workplaces are safe, and they deserve to have nothing but the utmost support and assistance we can provide; unfortunately Elizabeth Dole has not done that. Actions speak louder than words, and certainly one floor speech does nothing to erase the reality of several votes against our country’s law enforcement personnel.”
