Four New Regional Offices to Open Across the State

The North Carolina Campaign for Change today announced a major, statewide canvassing effort that will begin on Saturday, July 26th, the day that marks 100 days until the election.

Volunteers will be knocking on doors from the mountains to the coast, helping to register new voters and encouraging their neighbors to support Sen. Obama and other Democratic candidates on the ballot.

In addition, over the next five days organizers will be opening four additional Campaign for Change offices in Hickory, Winston-Salem, Durham and Greenville. This will bring the total offices to twelve, including the state campaign headquarters located in Raleigh.

As a newly formed Political Action Committee, the Matthew 25 Network is reaching out to America's diverse Christian communities in support of Senator Barack Obama.
Obama Economic Plan to Provide Real Relief for North Carolina Families

Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that unemployment rate in North Carolina jumped to 6.0%, the fifth straight month of unemployment increases. This new data is just the latest confirmation that our economy is failing North Carolina’s families, and that we need to change course from the Bush economic policies that John McCain is intent on continuing.

With the price of gas over $4.10 a gallon nationally, the cost of health insurance rising, and national job losses falling for six straight months and totaling 438,000 since January, America’s working families need real relief.

Today, July 18, 2008, Obama’s Campaign for Change announces the opening of several offices in North Carolina, beginning with grand openings in Wilmington and Rocky Mount on Saturday, July 19th. Offices will also open in Charlotte and Raleigh in the upcoming days.

"We're putting together a great grassroots campaign from one end of North Carolina to the other. It's a campaign based on person to person contact between friends and neighbors, and these offices will support that effort" said North Carolina State Director Mark Farinella.

By BARACK OBAMA

The call by Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki for a timetable for the removal of American troops from Iraq presents an enormous opportunity. We should seize this moment to begin the phased redeployment of combat troops that I have long advocated, and that is needed for long-term success in Iraq and the security interests of the United States.

More than a half-million North Carolinians will benefit from Senator Barack Obama’s Economic Plan for America’s Working Women released on Thursday.

Over the past generation, women have made unparalleled gains in the American economy.

Working women make up a growing share of our workforce, our entrepreneurs, and our innovators. Yet despite this progress, American women continue to shoulder substantial economic burdens.

You know, faith based groups like East Side Community Ministry carry a particular meaning for me. Because in a way, they're what led me into public service. It was a Catholic group called The Campaign for Human Development that helped fund the work I did many years ago in Chicago to help lift up neighborhoods that were devastated by the closure of a local steel plant.

Remarks of Senator Barack Obama
The America We Love
Monday, June 30th, 2008
Independence, Missouri

On a spring morning in April of 1775, a simple band of colonists - farmers and merchants, blacksmiths and printers, men and boys - left their homes and families in Lexington and Concord to take up arms against the tyranny of an Empire. The odds against them were long and the risks enormous - for even if they survived the battle, any ultimate failure would bring charges of treason, and death by hanging.

By BETH FOUHY,
Associated Press Writer

Rivals turned allies, Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton made a display of unity Friday in a hamlet named for it, their first joint public appearance since the divisive Democratic primary race ended.

"Unity is not only a beautiful place as we can see, it's a wonderful feeling, isn't it? And I know when we start here in this field in Unity, we'll end on the steps of the Capitol when Barack Obama takes the oath of office as our next president," Clinton said just after she and Obama took the stage together.

Our unprecedented primary season helped build our infrastructure in all 50 states -- not just for Barack Obama, but for all of the Democratic candidates.

Now it's time to bring all of that energy together around our common goal of change.

Obama for America is launching a nationwide day of action this Saturday, June 28th, called "Unite for Change." Across the country, Democrats who supported all of the candidates in the primary -- and those who are just tuning in now -- will come together to focus on party unity and victory in November.
