HAGAN RAISES MORE THAN $1.6 MILLION IN SECOND QUARTER

Strong fundraising positions Hagan to aggressively take on Dole

Kay Hagan’s U.S. Senate campaign today announced that Kay has raised more than $1.6 million in the second quarter of the year, strongly positioning her to aggressively take on Elizabeth Dole. The fundraising total leaves the campaign with $1.2 million cash on hand.

“This extremely strong fundraising total will enable us to aggressively compete with Elizabeth Dole and spread Kay’s message to as many North Carolinians as possible,” said Hagan Communications Director Colleen Flanagan. “Combined with a strong, grassroots program and an intense campaign schedule which continues to take Kay from one end of the state to the other to talk about her ideas to fix what’s broken in Washington, Elizabeth Dole’s days as a U.S. Senator are numbered.”

GREENSBORO, N.C. – State Senator and U.S. Senate Nominee Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) was in Raleigh today to talk to consumers about the drastic increase in the price of gas. When Elizabeth Dole took office in 2003, the average price of gas was $1.52 per gallon. Earlier this week average prices skyrocketed to a record $4.08 per gallon. Vote For Kay Hagan

Russ Feingold's new online organizing group, Progessive Patriots, is holding a competition between Democratic Senators. Progressive Patriots takes online feedback from supporters, and asks other Democrats to vote for their favorite candidate. This builds recognition of all candidates selected, and helps us build momentum toward the November elections.

In May, they held a contest where you could vote for your favorite House challengers. Minnesota's Ashwin Madia earned a $5,000 contribution. Now they are focusing on the U.S. Senate.

The winner of this contest will get a $5,000 contribution to his or her campaign.
