As Budd Campaigns In Alexander County, 5 Ways He Has Voted Against Their Interests

North Carolinians continue to be abandoned by Congressman Budd in every corner of the state. While Congressman Budd is campaigning in Alexander County today, here are five ways he’s failed the community:

  • Through American Rescue Plan funds, which Congressman Budd voted against, Alexander County received a $1,049,286.75 grant to provide broadband service to 305 homes and businesses that will help grow the local economy and offer residents access to telehealth, remote work, and educational opportunities.
  • By voting against the American Rescue Plan, Budd put politics over delivering clean water to underserved Alexander County residents who don’t have access to a reliable, quality water source.
  • Despite Alexander County being categorized as “opioid high-risk” in a study by the Journal of the American Medical Association, Congressman Budd has voted against a total of $7 million to support efforts in North Carolina to combat the opioid crisis.
  • Alexander County School District has the second lowest internet speed in the entire state of North Carolina, but Congressman Budd didn’t think broadband investments were worth voting for. He opposed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which as of July 2022, led to 512,000 households across the state receiving affordable internet.
  • In August 2022, Alexander County Veteran Services Office began helping local veterans and survivors file PACT Act claims. But this summer, Congressman Budd voted against the Honoring Our PACT Act, defended his decision to vote against it, and then later decided to vote for the bill’s final version after a slew of negative press and backlash from veterans across the state. Veterans deserve a leader that they can trust to fight for them without question.
