Senate Republicans are making it clear that if they win the North Carolina Senate seat in 2022 their agenda is repealing the Affordable Care Act, which would gut coverage protections for North Carolinians with pre-existing conditions and spike health care costs. This comes after NRSC Chair Rick Scott released a plan to raise taxes on nearly 40 percent of North Carolinians, and ending Medicare and Social Security.
“Ted Budd, Pat McCrory, and Mark Walker will all be another rubber stamp on their party’s agenda: raising taxes on working families and seniors and now trying to take away coverage protections for North Carolinians with pre-existing conditions and raising health care costs,” said NCDP spokesperson Kate Frauenfelder. “While Democrats work to lower costs and cut taxes for North Carolina families, Republicans’ priority is serving the interests of big corporations and their wealthy donors.”
