Today, Phillip and Dorathy Barker from Olusanya Farm, and Ken Cooper, an advocate for North Carolina farmers, held a press conference on Congressman Ted Budd’s record of failing farmers. The event followed news that Congressman Budd faced allegations of fraud related to his involvement in a bankruptcy that left farmers out more than $50 million.
“Congressman Budd and his family put themselves ahead of making sure farmers got paid. And then allegedly tried to further delay what farmers were owed? That’s not someone we can trust to fight for farmers in the U.S. Senate.” said Ken Cooper.
“All of the issues we are talking about today are near to our hearts. We have owned our farm since 1981 and struggled to maintain the ownership of Olusanya Farm,” said Dorathy Barker.
“North Carolinians know his Budd is not for North Carolina. Mr. Budd voted against us when we were trying to gain access to capital for limited resource farmers to allow them to move their operations forward…It’s time for a change in North Carolina.” said Phillip Barker.
