Today, North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Bobbie Richardson, NC State AFL-CIO Vice President Grant Welch, and Raleigh parent Sarah Stoeckel kicked off the NCDP’s “This Budd Is Not For North Carolina” tour highlighting how wrong Ted Budd’s agenda is for the state.
Throughout his time in Congress, Budd has consistently put his own interests ahead of North Carolina’s working families, and that’s exactly why Democrats across the state are speaking out ahead of the critical November midterm elections.

“Instead of using the power of his office to find solutions and lower costs for families, he’s making it clear that he’s in the business of making wealthy corporations wealthier, while middle class North Carolinians’ pocketbooks pay the price. That is just the beginning of why he would be wrong for North Carolinians. Republicans like Ted Budd are imposing the wrong agenda on North Carolina, and in November, North Carolinians will reject it,” said NCDP Chair Bobbie Richardson.
We need a U.S. Senator that will put North Carolina’s working families first. Ted Budd has proven time and time again that he won’t do that. He would even support raising taxes on the middle class. Budd recently revealed that he “agreed with the major points” of Senate Republicans’ plan that would raise taxes on 40 percent of North Carolinians. That would mean an average of almost $1,500 less in families’ pockets each year. North Carolinians simply cannot afford that,” said NC AFL-CIO Vice President Grant Welch.
“Raising taxes on middle class families, controlling a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions – these are just a few of the reasons why North Carolina parents and families cannot afford to see Ted Budd in the U.S. Senate,” said Sarah Stoeckel, Raleigh mom.
