Following news that Donald Trump will travel to Wilmington, NC this week, NCDP Communications Director Austin Cook released the following statement:
“Throughout his convention last week, Donald Trump and his enablers tried to pretend the coronavirus didn’t exist while holding dangerous, in-person political events while hundreds of Americans are dying every day.
“Wilmington residents aren’t looking for a photo-op from Donald Trump when more than 2,700 people in our state have died from the coronavirus and our case total approaches 166,000. No matter how many times he tries to spin that devastating reality, our state is still paying the price for his incompetence. This administration’s failure to contain the pandemic can’t be erased or ignored — and with absentee ballots just days away from being distributed, North Carolina voters will hold Trump accountable.”
