Governor Cooper, Chief Justice Beasley, and other distinguished Democrats to speak as well

Raleigh – Today, the North Carolina Democratic Party announced that Democratic presidential candidates Mayor Mike Bloomberg and Senator Amy Klobuchar as well as Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez will speak at the inaugural Blue NC Celebration in Charlotte on February 29, 2020. 

The Blue NC Celebration is an event to reaffirm our commitment to our Democratic values and celebrating the many hard-working Democrats across the state. The announced speakers will join Governor Roy Cooper, Chief Justice Cheri Beasley, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, NCDP Chair Wayne Goodwin, and other Democratic candidates and nominees in addressing hundreds of North Carolina Democrats.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Mayor Bloomberg, Senator Klobuchar, and Chairman Perez back to North Carolina, a place accurately described as a battleground state in 2020,” said NCDP Chairman Wayne Goodwin. “We have the opportunity to make major, meaningful change this year for not only our state but our country, and we are pleased that Democrats from all over the nation have recognized that opportunity and are helping us reach that goal.”

“North Carolina is one of the most important battlegrounds in the country and will play a key role for Democrats in 2020,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “This year we have the opportunity to flip the U.S. Senate, flip both legislative chambers before redistricting, and take back the White House. It’s going to be a big, blue year in North Carolina and Democrats are ready to win up and down the ticket.”

“Amy Klobuchar understands that winning big doesn’t just mean success in the presidential election — it means winning Senate, Congressional and State Legislative races, including here in North Carolina,” said Amy For America North Carolina State Director Maggie Barlow. “We’re excited for Amy to bring her message to the Tar Heel State in the coming days and look forward to working with the NC Democratic Party to support our candidates up and down the ballot.”
