Ahead of the third GOP U.S. Senate debate tonight, North Carolina voters can expect to see more of the same from the primary rivals: infighting, attacks, and chaos. And of course – no Ted Budd as he continues to duck debates and hide.
Just in the last 24 hours:
- Pat McCrory spent most of his interview attacking Ted Budd for not “showing up” to the debates or to vote on Russian sanctions, while calling Club for Growth’s attack ads an “insult to the people of North Carolina,” that prove Budd is “bought and paid for” and would be “elected based upon lies.”
- Club for Growth launched yet another million-dollar negative ad campaign “slamming McCrory” and questioning his conservative credentials. McCrory is calling it “total deception.”
- Mark Walker is responding to another attack ad from Club for Growth that accuses him of missing votes and “pocketing $350,000 from taxpayers.” He claims that he hasn’t “taken a dime” and continues to attack Budd for dodging debates and enriching himself while running for U.S. Senate.
Meanwhile, North Carolina Republicans are “scrambling to unify” as a “chaotic and expensive primary contest” threatens to weaken the eventual GOP nominee. According to reporting from the Hill, some Republicans “worry” that this nasty and divisive primary “could set them back ahead of the November general election.”
